Editorial Policy
What this site is
cycleandwisdom.com is a timing almanac for the United States. Every article answers one kind of question: when. When to plant, when a seed sprouts, when an insect emerges, when a yard task is due, when a seasonal marker arrives. We do not publish how-to-fix guides, consumption guides, or safety determinations.
Accuracy and sourcing
- Every timing figure is tied to a named primary source: NOAA/NWS climate normals, the 2023 USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map, or a named university extension program.
- We report ranges, not false precision. A frost date is a normal, not a promise, and we say so.
- We name the specific station or program, because a state is not a frost zone and a zone is not a calendar.
- Each article carries a “Last verified” date. When a source updates, we re-check and re-date.
AI assistance and human review
Research and drafting are AI-assisted. A named human reviews every article against its sources before it publishes and is accountable for the result. We state this openly on our how we create our content page. We do not use fabricated credentials, and we do not display “medically reviewed” or “expert reviewed” badges we have not earned.
Experience and first-party evidence
Where our reviewer has genuinely made an observation in their own zone, we publish it with the date, the numbers, and an original photo. Where they have not, we say so, cite the authority instead, and never present a borrowed number as our own measurement. We would rather show one real photo and an honest citation than invent a field log.
Independence
Our timing recommendations are not for sale. If a page ever carries an affiliate link or a sponsored placement, it is disclosed on that page and on our disclosure page, and it never changes what date we tell you.
What we exclude on purpose
We do not cover edibility, toxicity, herbal or medicinal use, pesticide products, food preservation for safety, or any human or animal health claim. These exclusions are deliberate and apply everywhere on the site, including FAQs, image alt text, and structured data. When a topic cannot be written without crossing that line, we drop the topic rather than write a softened version.
Corrections
Errors are logged publicly on our corrections page with the date and what changed. Reader reports go to our contact page.
